What I have learned is that afraid of math or math anxiety are lack of motivation, social pressure, and teachers’ character. Several students usually believe that they are bad at math and because of this, they do not like math.
One of the most common complaints which students have about learning mathematics is its lack of relevance to their lives outside school. When they fail to see the importance of mathematics to their current and future lives, they often lose interest. Hence, as a teacher we should provide learning strategies that involve the use of mathematics in daily life.
Since we know that people with math anxiety face challenges in their math classes and everyday lives. When they are adult, they are less likely to show interest, enter, and succeed in careers relating to science, technology, engineering, and of course mathematics.
